Walleye Stay Hot With 4-3 Win
|
The Walla Walla Walleye picked up a win at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium, taking down the Monroeville Yinzers, 4-3. Starting pitcher Joe Thomas was a big reason why. In 6 innings, Thomas surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 12 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. José Torres recorded the save for Walla Walla, his 5th of the season.
The Walleye got a big boost from left fielder Dennis Hanks who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning off Yinzers hurler Jed Knight. It was his 2nd RBI of the season and put Walla Walla on top, 1-0.
When asked about his performance after the game, Hanks said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
The misery continues for the Yinzers, which has now dropped 20 in a row.
