Jets Fall Short, 2-1, at Belleville
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Belleville Bulls and the Kennesaw Jets. Belleville won it, 2-1. Belleville starter Sam van Elswijk was in command. Pierre-Antoine Mauduit picked up the save for Belleville, his 20th of the year. Belleville, at 38-43, occupies 7th place in the Silver A.
With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Alex Combs had a game-changing hit. The Bulls second baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Mei-shio Qin, making the score 2-0, Belleville.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Belleville skipper Jeff Rutherford. "I can't complain."
