Seahawks Squelch Yinzers Offense in Shutout Win
|
In a tight game between the Myrtle Beach Seahawks and the Monroeville Yinzers, pitcher Kel Ellis was terrific on the mound. The Myrtle Beach right-hander helped his team to the 3-0 win. Ellis went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 11. His record improves to 2-1. The loss lowers the Monroeville record to 0-10.
Myrtle Beach took a 3-0 lead on José Montés's 5th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Montés hit in the top of the seventh, left Monroeville pitcher Ken Lewis shaking his head.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Myrtle Beach skipper Tom Oglander.
