Palma Excels, But Vandals Win
Alameda got a terrific game from right fielder Sergio Palma. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Eugene, 12-6. Palma went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Josh Barnette, the winner, improved to 4-3. He held Alameda to 3 runs on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. The Vandals raised their record to 29-32.

In the bottom of the third, Eugene third baseman Sandross Bañaga had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and no one out, Bañaga stroked a 2-run single to left. It made the score 2-0, Eugene. For the game, he was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.
