Jets Snatch Late Win
|
The Kennesaw Jets faced a tough opponent in Caldwell pitcher Reynaldo Hernández, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Pipers Ballpark by a final score of 5-3. Hernández went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Kennesaw reliever Steve Haynes was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Lyndon Lerwill took the loss. Picking up the save was Reggie Townshend, his 11th.
Kennesaw used the clutch hitting of Reginald Willard to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Jets ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Willard told the Kennesaw Herald.
The win puts the Jets at 18-15, while the Chiefs drop to 16-17.
