Chiefs Fall Short, 3-2, at Alameda
|
Stanley Cote could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Caldwell Chiefs lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Alameda Airmen at Alameda Field. Jesús Árias, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. John Woods collected save number 1.
Alameda took a 3-2 lead on James Cabiles's 2nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Cabiles hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Caldwell pitcher Stanley Cote shaking his head.
After the game, Alameda manager Gonzalo Féliz applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The win makes Alameda 13-16.
