Torch Knock Off Manatees at Torch Field

The Mancelona Torch and Matlacha Manatees played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Mancelona Torch and the Matlacha Manatees, Max Meltdown was the difference-maker. The Mancelona right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Meltdown got the win, improving to 4-6. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Meltdown allowed 1 run. Eugene Blake was credited with the save for Mancelona, his 12th of the season.
The Torch got a big hit from shortstop Harry Kofmeister. In the bottom of the fifth, Kofmeister pounded a run-scoring double to left. His 9th double of the season put the Torch ahead, 3-1.
"I was able to get good plays made behind me," Meltdown said. "And I was able to make pitches when I needed to make pitches."
Yes, it was a win for Mancelona; but their 30-60 record is still nothing to boast about.
