Grey Wolves Stop White Walkers, 5-1
|
Vancouver starter Pat Butler put a stranglehold on the Buffalo offense. The right-hander had complete command of his forkball in leading the Grey Wolves to a 5-1 win. The winning pitcher was Butler, now 10-5. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 7. With the win, Vancouver pushed its record to 58-50.
The Grey Wolves got an important contribution from third baseman Basilio Penni, who in the bottom of the third hit a cutter into left-center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 26th double of the season and put the Grey Wolves ahead, 4-0.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Penni said after the game.
