Riley Leads Grey Wolves to 7-6 Win Over Cattlemen
|
With first baseman Gerald Riley leading the charge, the Vancouver Grey Wolves defeated the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 7-6, at Wolf Den in Vancouver. Riley, who finished 3rd in the PL in slugging percentage with .584 in 2048, was 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. Vancouver is now 56-48, Ft. Worth 57-47.
Vancouver took a 7-6 lead on Xavier Ortíz's 17th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Ortíz hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Ft. Worth pitcher Armando Trujillo visibly frustrated.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Ortíz said.
