Thunder Hawks Ballpark was the site for USPL Double A action featuring the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks and St. Petersburg Thunder.

The St. Petersburg Thunder topped the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 8-3, in USPL Double A action at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to St. Petersburg pitcher and Delano, California, native Jorge Ortíz. Ortíz went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-3. Mark Peterson finished to wrap up his 1st save.

St. Petersburg used the timely hitting of Steve Garner to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Thunder on top, 7-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Ortíz.

St. Petersburg, with the win, is 33-68.
