Thunder Hawks Sneak Past Fighting Imps, 4-3
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks had to overcome a fine effort from Ithaca pitcher Shigetoki Kato to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Kato went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. Sergio Rocha picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Denny Schneider was tagged with the loss. Ft. Polk South has a 4-game win streak, while Ithaca has lost 3 in a row.
The Thunder Hawks were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when shortstop Norberto Carrillo turned a 2-2 fastball from Denny Schneider into a bases-clearing double. The walk-off double electrified the Thunder Hawks Ballpark denizens and sent the Thunder Hawks home with a thrilling 4-3 win.
"Put a star next to this win," Carrillo said.
