Screaming Eagles Beat Pierogis, 3-2

The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles beat the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 3-2. Mercer Island pitcher and Corpus Christi, Texas, native Lawrence MacLellan led the way. MacLellan got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 0 over 5 innings. MacLellan allowed 2 runs. Juan Carrillo earned the save, his 3rd.
The win was a team effort for Mercer Island. Right Fielder Joey Pinches was among the key contributors. In the bottom of the fourth, he put his team in front, 3-2, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Ricardo Vargas.
Mercer Island is first in the Premier AA with a record of 34-13.
