Thunder Hawks Saddle Polar Bears with 3-0 Loss
|
In a low-scoring game between the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks and the Billings Polar Bears, pitcher José Benítez was masterful on the mound. The Ft. Polk South right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-0 win. Benítez got the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Benítez allowed no runs. Lloyd Anderson nailed down his 2nd save.
The Thunder Hawks got a big at-bat from second baseman Gilberto Gómez. For the game, Gómez was 1-3 with a double, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 7th double of the season gave Ft. Polk South a 3-0 lead.
Afterward, Thunder Hawks manager Mike Evans was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Ft. Polk South now sits at 17-29, while Billings falls to 7-39.
