Screaming Eagles Rally For 4-2 Win
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles got the win.
The Ithaca Fighting Imps got a superb performance from pitcher Millard Clement. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Mercer Island. The Screaming Eagles won the game, 4-2. Clement threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. Mercer Island pitcher Juan Carrillo got the win. He's now 3-0. Denny Schneider was tagged with the loss.
Mercer Island used a timely hit from Seppo Kimmonen to get the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Kimmonen told the Mercer Island Observer.
The first-place Screaming Eagles have won 4 consecutive games.
