Floundering Thunder Lose 12th Straight
Asheville got a strong outing from Dale Burney as the Highlanders defeated the St. Petersburg Thunder, 3-2, at Asheville Park. Bob O'Slattery, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Asheville raised its record to 18-13 with the win.

Su-shun Hung took Albert Silver deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Highlanders on top, 3-2. In all, Hung had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Burney told the Asheville Gazette.
