Screaming Eagles Drop Highlanders, 5-3
|
Mercer Island starter Morgan Cartier pitched well against the Asheville Highlanders at Mercer Island Grounds. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Aaron Houghton earned the save, his 2nd, for the Screaming Eagles. The Screaming Eagles, at 21-9, sit in second place in the Premier AA.
The Screaming Eagles got an important contribution from shortstop Noel Higgins, who in the bottom of the second punched a 1-2 curveball into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 2-0.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Cartier.
