Pontiac Godfathers starter Chris Morris was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Holy City Herons, 6-4. Morris went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Holy City now is 3-5.
Pontiac center fielder Kevin Morris contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball into left field for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Godfathers ahead, 3-0.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Morris. "Successful pitchers do it."
