Loons Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Thunder Hawks
|
The Minnesota Loons took Ft. Polk South pitcher José Benítez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. The final score had Minnesota getting past the Thunder Hawks, 6-3. Benítez went 6 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 6. Minnesota reliever Adam Brewer was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Mazhar Saglam. Júlio Martínez locked down his 3rd save.
Minnesota used the clutch hitting of Javier Alejo to snag the win. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Loons ahead, 6-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Alejo said.
Minnesota has 3 straight wins, Ft. Polk South 3 straight losses.
