Streaking Screaming Eagles Win Another One, 5-1
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles got a strong performance from pitcher Lloyd Best, who stymied the Asheville offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Asheville Park. The winning pitcher was Best, now 2-1. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Asheville, with the loss, is 8-6.
Koji Sugisata had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth for Mercer Island. He came through with a 2-run single to put Mercer Island in front, 5-1.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Ricardo Vargas.
