McKnight Delivers Walk-Off Win for Pierogis
Javier Ortega left his imprint on the 7-6 Squirrel Hill win against the St. Petersburg Thunder. Ortega was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jake Baird, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit in 4.1 innings. With the loss, St. Petersburg falls to 5-9.

In the bottom of the ninth, with no one out and the game tied, 6-6, right fielder Arnie McKnight won it for Squirrel Hill. With the bases loaded, McKnight hit a 3-1 cutter from Albert Silver for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 7-6 win.

"It wasn't our best performance," said McKnight, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
