Highlanders Edge Billings in Pitching Duel
|
Asheville Highlanders starter Andy Johnson turned in a sterling performance against the Billings Polar Bears, leading his team to a slim 1-0 win. Johnson, now 3-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Yermolay Olhivsky collected his 1st save.
The Highlanders got a lift from right fielder Juan Santos, who in the top of the third hit a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season put the Highlanders on top, 1-0.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Billings manager Steve Ferguson.
Billings, with the loss, is 1-7.
