The Asheville Highlanders put one in the win column on Opening Day at Asheville Park. The Highlanders defeated the Minnesota Loons, 7-5. Asheville designated hitter Su-shun Hung was instrumental in his team's success. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.

Hung had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from Kung Yei, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Highlanders a 7-5 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Hung.

In postgame comments to the Asheville Gazette, Hung said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
