VIRGINIA BEACH WHALES AT NORTHVILLE ECLIPSE

Eclipse Come Back Late to Clip Whales
Both teams had their chances, but the Northville Eclipse eventually prevailed.

Despite a great performance by Virginia Beach first baseman Étienne Duchesne, the Northville Eclipse defeated the Whales by the score of 7-6 at Old-Timers Park. Duchesne went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Northville reliever Juan Gutiérrez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Michael Wright was saddled with the loss. Norbert van Poppel got the save, the 29th for him this season.

Peoria, Illinois-born Greg García came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Eclipse trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Northville on top.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," García said.

Northville raised its record to 47-35 with the win.
