Duchesne Leads Whales to 9-5 Win Over Cangrejos Fantasmas
The Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas and Virginia Beach Whales were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Virginia Beach Whales bested the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas, 9-5, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Étienne Duchesne was one of the standouts. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Ric Nelson, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 and walking 2.

Esteban Reyes hit a 3-run home run off George Hill in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Whales ahead, 3-1. In addition to the homer, Reyes had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Reyes told the Virginia Beach News.

The 8th-place Whales have won 4 straight games.
