Tight Tilt Goes to Ogres, 2-1
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Olympia Ogres and Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas.
In a low-scoring clash between Olympia and Chesapeake, pitcher Ken Milligan was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 win. Milligan, now 2-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The save went to Rob Phillips, his 1st this season.
Anastasio Estrada was 2-3 with 2 singles for Olympia. The 22-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Oliver Quested. It was his 11th RBI of the season.
"This was a tough loss," said Chesapeake manager Jonah Moody. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
The win puts Olympia at 22-19 this season.
