Miners Rally For 10-6 Win
|
The Marquette Miners overcame a good performance by Gulf Coast first baseman Víctor Rivas to knock off Gulf Coast, 10-6, at Mobile Home Park. Rivas was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Edgardo Gutiérrez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record is now 2-3. The Miners now have a record of 17-21 with the win over Gulf Coast.
Marquette used a clutch hit from Gregg Curtis to get the win. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Miners ahead, 9-6. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Miners manager Adrián Hernández. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
