Pilgrims Upend Whales, 4-2

The Providence Pilgrims topped the Virginia Beach Whales, 4-2, in USSL Double A action at Virginia Beach Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Providence pitcher and Chinandega, Nicaragua, native Felipe Cardona. The Pilgrims, at 13-15, sit in 7th place in the Silver AA.
Providence used a well-timed hit by Pedro Murillo to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Pilgrims ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
In postgame comments, Cardona told the Providence Citizen: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
