Rails Curb Saboteurs, 8-6
|
Toledo center fielder Kevin Morris was sensational. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Richland beat the Saboteurs, 8-6. The winner was Francisco Chavarría, who threw 101 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits. Diederick van der Ploeg locked down his 4th save.
Richland used a timely hit from Jerrel van Katwijk to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rails ahead, 7-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said van Katwijk, "and then get after it again."
Richland occupies 5th place in the Menard's AA at 37-36.
