Fur Traders Snatch Late Win
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders beat the Richland Rails, 8-3, at Ballpark of Tacoma. The Fur Traders got a fine performance from right fielder Lawrence Hobbs, who went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Tacoma reliever Larry Hodge was the winner. His record is now 2-3. Grady Booth took the loss. After today's action, Tacoma sits at 15-31, while Richland falls to 24-22.
Héctor Estrada drew 1 walk for Tacoma. In the bottom of the eighth, with the teams deadlocked, 2-2, Estrada delivered for the Fur Traders. His run-scoring walk put Tacoma on top, 3-2.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Tacoma skipper Gil Schmidt. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
