The inspired effort of Montana center fielder Ron Pollard was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-6, to the Greenville 84s. Pollard went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Greenville reliever Hubert Johnson was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Todd Jackson. The 84s go to 27-44 with the win.

The 84s relied on designated hitter Ricardo López for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 12th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," López said in his postgame press conference.
