King Delivers Walk-Off Win for Battery
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Charleston Armory. But Eric MacKichan conjured up just enough offense to carry the Battery past the Nova Scotia Leviathan, 3-2. MacKichan was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. José Correa notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. Their 41-46 record puts the Battery 8th in the Third League.
Charleston won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With no outs and Jorge Valdéz on the mound for Nova Scotia, first baseman Norbert King hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Battery fans to their feet.
"This place was jumping at the end," King said.
