The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC trumped the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 8-7, at Great Northern Field. Thunder Bay center fielder Leonard Saunders was terrific. He was 3 for 5 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. The winner in relief was Jerry Sargent. He is now 1-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Thunder Bay is now 37-40, Northern Virginia 38-39.

The Northern Lions BC relied on second baseman Tyler Harris for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 12th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Harris said in his postgame press conference.
