The Hamilton Thunderbirds got a superb performance from pitcher Jay Newton. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Norfolk. The Pajaritos won the game, 3-2. Newton threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. With the win, Norfolk goes to 21-21, while the Thunderbirds fall to 17-25.

Pablo Flores chipped in for Norfolk, stroking a crucial 2-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning. For the game, the left fielder went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.
