6-5 Loss Deepens Ellenburg Funk
|
Hamilton beat Ellenburg at Coyote Wildlife Refuge, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Ron Johnson. He was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Gregory Gilbert earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. The Fighting Dachshunds, at 11-27, have lost 6 in a row.
With Hamilton leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Johnson hit a curveball from Juan Pujol for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Thunderbirds ahead, 5-0.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Ellenburg skipper Marvin Hayes.
