The 2054 season began for the Kansas Rainbeaus with a loss to the Hialeah Dodos at Wichita Field. The final score was 4-1. Hialeah pitcher Ricardo Corona had a fine performance. Yu-eh Wang closed the door for Hialeah, picking up his 1st save of the year.

Corona, a native of Punto Fijo, Venezuela, was dealing all game. He kept Kansas hitters off-balance, while giving the Dodos 9 quality innings. Corona threw 99 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 5.
