The Norfolk Pajaritos put one in the win column with an opening day 3-2 triumph over the Pennsauken Flyers. The crowd at Norfolk Field watched Hamish Mitchell put on a fine performance. Chris Small, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Norfolk first baseman Kelvin van Zeist, facing Carlos Rosas, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Pajaritos the 3-2 win.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said van Zeist. "And not try to do too much."
