Bakersfield Wins, 4-3, in 13 Innings
|
The Bakersfield Nobles racked up a win at Timber Hawks Ballpark, bumping off the Monongahela Monsters, 4-3. Eric Buchanan, who started for Bakersfield, pitched effectively for his team. Bakersfield reliever David Sullivan got the win, raising his record to 6-3. Martin Lumley was tagged with the loss. Dave Franks earned the save, his 3rd.
Bakersfield needed the clutch hitting of Michizane Yamashita to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Nobles on top, 4-3. For the game, Yamashita had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Jesús Román, the Bakersfield skipper.
The win puts the Nobles at 51-45, while the Monsters drop to 49-47.
