Monsters Knock Off Brass, 7-1
|
The Monongahela Monsters defeated the Baton Rouge Brass, 7-1, at Brass Field. Monongahela left fielder Bob Johnson had a superb performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Chris Barnes earned the win for Monongahela. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Monongahela, now 49-44, holds down second place in the Premier AAA.
Monongahela took a 5-0 lead on Johnson's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Santiago Proximo in the top of the sixth, propelled Monongahela to the win.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Johnson told the Monongahela Daily.
