Monsters Suffer 7-4 Setback
|
Getting a good performance from first baseman Santiago García, the Baton Rouge Brass defeated the Monongahela Monsters, 7-4. García was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk for the Brass. Baton Rouge reliever Melis Ooyendijk picked up the win to move to 9-4. Javier Solís suffered the loss. Carlos Rosado got the save, the 9th for him this season.
Baton Rouge took a 5-4 lead on Yoshihito Kimura's 5th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Kimura hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Monongahela pitcher Javier Solís shaking his head.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Kimura told a Baton Rouge Daily News reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
Baton Rouge's record now stands at 49-43, placing them second in the Premier AAA.
