Monsters Upend Brass, 2-1
|
Pitcher Cisco Navarro was sensational for the Monongahela Monsters in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Baton Rouge Brass. Navarro picked up the win, and it was well-earned. Navarro, now 1-3, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Kirby Perkins earned the save for Monongahela, his 16th of the year.
Monongahela relied on the hitting of Freddie Cupp to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Monsters on top, 2-0. For the game, Cupp had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We did just enough to win," Cupp said.
The triumph puts Monongahela at 48-43 for the season.
