Drummers Hand Monsters 4-3 Loss
|
The Tortolita Drummers beat the Monongahela Monsters, 4-3. Tortolita pitcher and Lincoln, Nebraska, native Sixto Bustamante led the way. Bustamante, the winner, moves to 6-7. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Apaghana Shachi earned the save, his 6th, for the Drummers.
Tied up with the Monsters in the top of the fifth inning, the Drummers got a boost from catcher Sibrand Boermeester. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Boermeester saw a full count fastball from Cisco Navarro and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Tortolita on top, 2-1.
"We did enough to win," said Bustamante.
Tortolita occupies 7th place in the Premier AAA at 42-45.
