The inspired effort of Alaskan first baseman Steve Covington was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the Syracuse Starks. Covington hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Bill Strain earned the win for Syracuse. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 4-9. Jake Mitchell was credited with the save.
