Late Magic Gets Baton Rouge 4-3 Win
The Syracuse Starks got a sterling performance from pitcher Steve Ward, but the Baton Rouge Brass still prevailed, 4-3. Ward threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The winner was Baton Rouge reliever Matt Jenkins, now 2-1. The loser was Miguel Bruno. After today's action, Baton Rouge sits at 43-38, while Syracuse falls to 33-48.

Baton Rouge used the clutch hitting of Robert Rodríguez to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Brass ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Anyone who says he's not out there thinking about personal accomplishments is not telling the truth," Rodríguez said later.
