Drummers Snatch Late Win
|
Led by Shawn Maldonado, the Tortolita Drummers downed the Baton Rouge Brass, 3-1. Maldonado was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Drummers. Tortolita reliever Apaghana Shachi picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Carlos Rosado was saddled with the loss. The 7th-place Drummers now have a win-loss record of 35-38.
Maldonado had a timely hit for Tortolita in the bottom of the eighth. With Baton Rouge trailing 1-0, he turned a 2-1 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season, making it 3-1, Tortolita.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Maldonado, "and go after the next one."
