The Bakersfield Nobles eked out a 3-2 win versus the Athletic Club KC Reserves at Jerome Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Eric Buchanan. He was terrific. Stuart Fossett snagged the win in relief. In 3 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits. He's now 1-0 on the season. The third-place Nobles raised their record to 34-26.

Bakersfield took a 3-2 lead on Denny Forbes's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which Forbes hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Athletic Club KC pitcher Martin Elzey shaking his head.

Forbes said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
