The Baton Rouge Brass did just enough to sneak past the Syracuse Starks, 3-2, at Brass Field. Baton Rouge pitcher Rock DeVote, in particular, had a standout performance. With the win, Baton Rouge has a record of 21-22. Syracuse falls to 19-24.
It was an impressive turn from the legendarily hard-working DeVote, who tallied 10 strikeouts in 7 innings while allowing just 4 hits. DeVote, who is rated as the 66th best prospect by BNN, goes to 1-1 on the year with 13 strikeouts.
