Humpbacks Stick Monsters with 5-1 Loss
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Alaskan Humpbacks and Monongahela Monsters.
The Alaskan Humpbacks faced a tough opponent in Monongahela pitcher Bhu Pahayahay, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Timber Hawks Ballpark by a final score of 5-1. Pahayahay went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Bill Turner earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 4.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0.
Alaskan relied on the bat of Steve Covington to get the win. The first baseman ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Humpbacks ahead, 5-1. For the game, Covington had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Covington. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Alaskan, at 14-16, holds down 5th place in the Premier AAA.
