Monsters Defeat Humpbacks, 2-1
|
Monongahela got an elite performance from starting pitcher Manuel Peña in taking a 2-1 decision over the Alaskan Humpbacks. Monongahela reliever Mané Garrincha was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Curtis Hall took the loss. The 4th-place Monsters sport a record of 15-14.
The Monsters relied on center fielder Luis Flores for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 13th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"Tough loss," said Alaskan manager Oliver Burrell. "But we'll learn from it."
