Lerwill drives in 4 runs in Golden Cranes Win
|
Santa Barbara and Jersey City duked it out and the Golden Cranes came out victorious.
The 6-4 Santa Barbara win over Jersey City was due largely to Lucas Lerwill. The Golden Cranes right fielder went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Ed Jenkins, the winner, improved to 3-1. He held Jersey City to 3 runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Josh Rainey was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 8 save opportunities.
Having an impact for Santa Barbara was Gabriel Quintana. In the top of the seventh inning, the 27-year old right fielder had a run-scoring walk to make the score 6-4, Golden Cranes.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Santa Barbara manager William Smith.
The Golden Cranes raised their record to 43-28.
