Hot Chickens Subdue Port Royal, 2-1
|
The Nashville Hot Chickens got a magnificent performance from pitcher Robert Carlson, who stifled the Port Royal offense en route to a 2-1 Hot Chickens win at Hot Chickens Park. In 7.1 innings, Carlson surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Alejandro Colón was called on to finish, recording his 15th save.
The Hot Chickens got an important contribution from right fielder Michael Wright, who in the bottom of the sixth hit a first pitch circle change into left-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Hot Chickens ahead, 2-1.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Nashville manager Ward Wilberfoss said.
Nashville has a record of 33-29, placing them 4th in the Menard's AAA.
